About
We're nerds in the NYC nightlife going to clubs and getting rejected at the door. But eventually we get in.

Tasting the NYC night life scene one lick at a time. We bring the perspective of multiple reviewers so that means more tongues on your "party".

We believe that no venue is the same so we like to attend places more than once so you guys can learn about all the different flavors a party has to offer.

We also list events that we support or regularly attend in our "Taste THIS Party" post. There are always parties going on every night but these are the ones we want to go to.

We're hungry for parties and want to taste yours!

Tasting “The Best Little Whorehouse in New York” @ The Liberty Theater

Friday May 11th, 2012

Hosted by : Ray Trosa

Music provided by: Djs Nadav Vee, VanJee, Alex Sapir, Brandon Rullan, Marcos Carnaval, LibraNINE  & DJ Lu Ong

The Liberty Theater was transformed into the Red Light District meets Burlesque. This MAJOR EVENT featured a Night of Debauchery and Sin and they were also celebrating Surj Walia’s birthday.  Entrance was through purchasing a ticket.  A shot of Grey Goose was $15.

* I seem to have lost my ticket to the gun show.

Here’s what our “Tasters” thought.  Click the Names to find out more about them.

Zero : With a name like The Best Little Whorehouse in New York you can imagine we were pretty curious as what to expect for this burlesque themed party.  The idea I had in my mind was that it would be a bunch of people poorly attempting to dress up with lingerie and garter belts and that it would be a pretty tame party.  We were only half right on that.  Read on to find out more.

VirGIN: Dam this place is HUGE.  Well, more like very tall.

From the picture, you can see that this place was at least 4 stories tall.  I loved that they converted the balconies to sections for the “strippers” to sit and play a certain role assigned to them.  One of them was pretending to read a book and entice you with her “brains” and another was simply posing in a very provocative position.  Later in the night, I spotted that one of the girls left her designated section to dance with another girl on her balcony.  Needless to say, eye candy was going to give your peepers a tooth ache this evening.

Zero : It was also pretty fun when you actually made eye contact with one of the dancers and they preceded to have this sort of silent conversation with you while seductively dancing high above.   Maybe they weren’t exactly look at me but at times if felt like it.  Lame I know.

VirGIN: The place was already pretty packed when we arrived, especially the section between the dance floor and the back “dungeon” area.  It looked as if this was a VIP section for bottle and table service.  Getting through here proved a little tricky as it provided a good spot to really look over the establishment.

I’m not sure if he paid for it, or if this was a friend helping out a friend, but we also witnessed one of the dancers giving a gentleman a back massage.  Perks of the VIP I guess.

SWIRL: Music in the main area was a consisting thumping of house.  I’m still kinda on the fence when I hear house, I guess it all depends on the DJ.  Sometimes it all just blends into the same metronome beat to where I can’t hear it.  And other times I think, wow is this house?  Not many people were dancing yet when we arrived so the music was more of upbeat white noise than a party starter.

Zero : I liked the music but the crowd was still socializing at this point.  People were still taking in the sites as we were.  Understandably so considering the many spectacles going on around us.

VirGIN: The main dance floor had a small elevated platform in the center and during the night, many of the themed dancers would go up there and show off their stuff.  It was pretty funny to see one drunk guy dancing behind one of the performers.  Whether or not she knew it made for added entertainment.

Zero :  Since our friend DJ Lu Ong was playing in another area of the party, we decided to check out “The Dungeon” area in the back of the venue.  With a name like that, I was expecting to see some kinky shit go down.  Sadly this was not the case.

VirGIN:  The Dungeon seemed more like a throwaway idea.  I liked that they had a separate area that played their own music but it seemed more like a HUGE waiting area for people to use the bathroom.

Zero : I gotta say, props to the bathroom guy for putting his foot down on girls who think that they could charm their way to the front.  I’m pretty sure that this was the only bathroom in the whole venue so you could image how long the line got.  And wherever there’s a line, there are people who want to cut it.

This guy was unflinching as girl after girl tried to get in his face and plead to go next but he simply just yelled at them to get in the back of the line.

Nice. Very nice.

SWIRL:  It was cool that this area had it’s own set of music.  Sometimes it’s nice to hear some popular mixes when you come from a room that’s all the same house beats.  Maybe I just wasn’t in that mood tonight.

Zero:  So I ordered a round of shots for us and then I get the bill.

$45

Jesus.  So that means each shot was $15.  Dam.  I am not drinking anything else here tonight.  We’ve been to some pricey places before but I was not expecting to drop $50 on 3 shots in plastic cups.  At least they could have given us real shot glasses.

We decided to head out of the dungeon and finally take a look at the second floor.

VirGIN:  I guess this is where all the elite were hanging out tonight because this place was jam packed.  Getting from one side of the bar required a lot of bobbing and dodging and we definitely got some drinks spilled on us in the process.  I liked that you could see the dance floor below and that the DJ booth was overlooking everything.
SWIRL:  Too bad this place was way too cramped for any dancing.  Well at least one person was dancing.  Even if she was paid to do it.
Zero:  Before we decided to head out, we watched a little show happening on the center platform of the first floor with two dancers.  They were doing their sexy moves and photographers were frantically flashing away.  Then suddenly, some guy walked up to them and throws about $40 worth of singles at their feet.  The ladies remained classy and finished up their strip tease but it was pretty humorous to see them try and pick up singles without looking needy.  Respect.
