Ritual is a Thursday night rock party in the basement lounge of Three of Cups. Their special “Alien Brain Hemorrhage” shot ran at $8 and they also had a beer+well shot for $6.

* Yes there is an actual shot called Alien Brain Hemorrhage and this place serves it.
Here’s what our “Tasters” thought. Click the Names to find out more about them.

Zero : Most parties and events seem to be happening at or around the Meat Packing district. While most people would attest to these being the best places to be at night, we like to seek out new things and new venues. We’re also not fond of the A,C,E line. It’s such a bitch at night. But I did hear about the Three of Cups’ specialty shot and I really wanted to taste it.

VirGIN: Just so you all know ( because we made this mistake ) Three of Cups is also a restaurant. If you want to go to the lounge, there’s a skinny stairwell in the back. The outside entrance is also to the right of the place with jet black steps descending down into the basement.
Like so many of the clubs we’ve been visiting, Three of Cups has also taken on the red-bulbed lighting scheme. For the lazy loungers, there are also very big, comfy, leather couches laid about. It’s not a very large space, but it’s cozy, and kind of feels like someone’s basement party. But their parents renovated, so it’s not damp and grungy. But they added leopard wallpaper to the support beams.

Zero : Immediately I went up to the bar and ordered this so called “Alien something something” shot I’ve been hearing about. It looks really cool ( I mean did you see the picture above ) but what did it look like in real life? Not too far off surprisingly but obviously nothing like the glamor image. Seems like there was less hemorrhaging going on in our shot. Taste wise, it was really good actually but a $8 shot is not something we can have on a reoccurring basis. Alien brains are safe for now.

SWIRL: I love good old rock and metal music so I was really excited when we walked in and Pantera’s “Cowboys From Hell” was playing. Coincidence? Probably not cuz we’re just such angels. We got nothing on Durango Doug.
For awhile we really just sat on the couches, which were really squishy, and shot the shit while enjoying a really good playlist.
