About
We're nerds in the NYC nightlife going to clubs and getting rejected at the door. But eventually we get in.

Tasting the NYC night life scene one lick at a time. We bring the perspective of multiple reviewers so that means more tongues on your "party".

We believe that no venue is the same so we like to attend places more than once so you guys can learn about all the different flavors a party has to offer.

We also list events that we support or regularly attend in our "Taste THIS Party" post. There are always parties going on every night but these are the ones we want to go to.

We're hungry for parties and want to taste yours!

Tasting “Bootie NYC: St. Paddy’s Mashup Party!” @ (Le) Poisson Rouge

Saturday March 17th, 2012

Hosted by: Shaw Promotion and  A+D

Music provided by: A PLUS D aka ADRIAN & MYSTERIOUS D, DJ LOBSTERDUST and Live on stage: Mashup performances from singers:
REBECCA CLOUDY, ALEJANDRO & ADRIAN

Best of Bootie is a dance party that happens at different clubs in the NYC area a couple times a year.  This night it was at Le Poisson Rounge.  Their specialty is that they only play mashups : a mix where the vocal track of one song is mixed over the instrumentation of another.  Entry tonight was $10 before 11 and $20 after.  Free CDs were also given out to the first 100 people.  Coat check was $3 per item. They also had a “Kiss Me I’m Irish” booth.

* Smootcie Bootchie!

Here’s what our “Tasters” thought.  Click the Names to find out more about them.

Zero : I’m extremely biased when it comes to Best of Bootie since I love the music and have been going to these parties for about 3 years maybe.  Of course I’m going to love it no matter what.

But did we manage to scrounge up any dirt while attending?  Come find out.

So we got there a little late. Maybe 12?  Should have come earlier though cuz we all had to pay the $20 cover.  Pricey but our own fault for not showing up earlyBIRD style.  As we walk down the stairs, check our things, and open the double doors………….the party was already well underway.

VirGIN:  I’ve been to LPR before but not on this side.  The venue was definitely very suited for this type of party as the whole crowd ( a big one at that ) was already bootie shaking hard.  The main DJs were spinning on their own stage but the nice thing was that you could go up there and join them.  Interesting experience as many people were dancing right behind them too.

Zero : I’m not sure if this happens at all the Bootie parties but at Public Assembly and Santos Party House you could also go up on stage as well.  This is usually where I’m at the whole night.  Leaning into the crowd and singing along with all the songs.

SWIRL: I’m also pretty biased because I’m a big fan of mashups too.  If you don’t know one part of the song you may luck out and know another.  It’s almost a win win every time.  Unless that time is when you just don’t know any of the music at all.  Luckily for us, the DJs spun lots of dancey, body moving music so you could still bounce around not knowing what was playing.
Another great thing about these parties is that at different times in the night, we get some live vocal performances to accompany the music.
Zero : When ALEJANDRO & ADRIAN started their Sweet Dreams / Teenage Dream performance, confetti rained down and silly string was shot out in all directions like Spiderman was trying to save us from rocks falling from above.

And yes I totally got a silly string money shot right in the face. Ha.

VirGIN:  There was also a kissing booth stage located on the opposite side of the DJ performance end.  I guess people went there to make out?  Not really sure what the deal was.  We were basically on the dance floor the whole night.

Zero : What else can we say really? We love this party and the music behind it.  I guess the only downside was the price because we arrived late and I did hear the same song more than once.  But ok, when do you get to hear a Cranberries -  Zombie dance mix on St. Patrick’s Day?
No where else but here.
