Tasting “Allison Parris After Party” @ 1OAK - #NYFW

Allison Parris was hosting her Fashion Week after party this evening at 1OAK. Then club is located in the meat packing district of Chelsea and is known to cater to a high end clientele. Entrance was based on invitation only but the door men were not checking for individual names. There is a coat check at the door and free champagne from 11 pm to 12 am. On a normal night cocktails start around $20.

VirGIN: Private party at 1OAK? Girl must have some serious funds. Or some serious connections. We haven’t been to 1OAK before but we knew of it. How could you not? The name is synonymous with big pockets and big spenders.
Maybe it was the lack of people but One of A Kind seemed HUGE. One large bar was located directly in the middle with tables lining the sides of the wall. There was a small section with about 3 couches that also had a fireplace. I assumed this to be a VIP area. We got our champagne and decided to sit next to the orange roaring flames. Littered on the tables were post cards for Allison’s event. And then we saw their drink list. Wow. At first glance it looked like they managed to create a menu using 2 e-book readers but in actuality, they were just back lit. A good visual trick but we would have really given point if they were Kindles or something. Oh and directly across from us, there was a stripper pole.
You can’t see it here but there are some PRETTY EXPENSIVE bottles on that menu….
Being as these are our first New York Fashion parties, I wasn’t sure what to expect. But now I know. There’s a lot of mingling. A LOT.
I guess the idea is to celebrate all the recent hard work of the designer and just have a nice night of it. Lots of people were also very fashion forward with their outfits so everyone had their game suits on. Except for one guy who looked like he hadn’t shaved in some time and was walking around with a backpack.
I guess when you’re on a list dress code doesn’t matter?
I hope not. Around 12 am when the free champagne ran out, we decided to get our butts on the dance floor !
SWIRL: The music served its purpose of bellowing over the crowd so you really had to get close to talk. virGIN and I were dancing though cuz the beats were right. Another group of Asians were dancing next to us while another couple got it on to our 6. Try as he might to play tracks that really get people moving (Rhianna) people were mostly just standing around and probably talking it up with the hostess. Who by the way is way pretty in person.
